Fellow libertarians, I have been a libertarian for 55 years and there is no better time for liberty than now.

For a quarter century, we have competed with government that seems free, funded by adding tens of trillions of dollars of debt. That time is ending and the day of reckoning is coming. When generations unborn or not yet voting are handed an unpayable debt and asked to pay it, they will correctly say it is taxation without representation and verges on involuntary servitude. There will then be radical change. We can help determine whether it is change toward liberty or further toward tyranny.

We are the only anti-war party, a position that resonates after Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and so many other wars.

We are the only party that stands for limited government, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, not deluded or seduced by any would-be tyrant.

We are the only party that consistently stands for the freedom of the individual and every voluntary association — business, charity, church, and family — including ending the war on drugs, getting government out of our bedrooms, and restoring educational freedom.

Any collective has sub-groups pulling it one way or another. When their goals are constructive I wish them well. For me, our principles are clear enough; my only caucus or faction is the Libertarian Party itself.
