The El Paso County Libertarian Party is proud to announce that El Paso, Texas has been officially selected as the host city for the 2028 Libertarian National Convention. Delegates, candidates, and party leaders from all 50 states will gather in our region to experience the vibrancy, hospitality, and cultural richness of our bi-cultural and bi-national border community.

While the Republican and Democratic parties spend taxpayer dollars administering their primary elections, the Libertarian Party will once again nominate its presidential ticket at no taxpayer expense. Our convention remains a privately funded, voluntary gathering, a reflection of our principles and our commitment to respecting the people who pay the bills.

The Libertarian National Convention is one of the most widely covered political gatherings in the country. At our last presidential-year convention, the man who is now the current President of the United States addressed the Libertarian delegation. His remarks were not well-received, and he ultimately left the stage to sustained disapproval from the delegates. Even so, the moment remained orderly, professional, and fully in keeping with the spirited yet respectful tradition of Libertarian discourse.

Hosting the 2028 convention will once again bring national attention to El Paso, offering the country a chance to see what our residents already know: El Paso is a beautiful, safe, and proudly multicultural border city. Thousands of visitors will have the opportunity to experience our unique identity and the welcoming spirit that defines our community.

This achievement would not have been possible without the exceptional work of Josie Barajas of Destination El Paso. Her presentation, coordination, and dedication showcased our city with clarity and excellence. We extend our sincere appreciation for her outstanding efforts in helping secure this national event for El Paso.
The El Paso County Libertarian Party looks forward to welcoming delegates from across the nation in 2028.
